From Startup Grind: TWO Workshop Winners

Our team had a blast last week at Startup Grind 2015. From sponsoring Monday’s cocktail party, to chatting with hundreds of cool entrepreneurs at our booth, to mulling over the plethora of ideas vying to win our $25K Innovation Workshop giveaway, we had an unforgettable time. Our thanks to the organizers and attendees for an excellent, inspiring event.

What really excited us, though, were the excellent app ideas we heard. In fact, the ideas were so good we couldn’t pick just ONE winner for a workshop. So, we selected two startups – both of whom have products that will benefit other startups. That means we donated $50K in mobile strategy services to the Startup Grind community – and we couldn’t be happier!

We’re booking the workshops now with our two winners – and we’ll keep you posted on their progress. But first, some introductions (in alphabetical order).

beagleBeagle is a business productivity tool. Beagle will read commercial contracts using artificial intelligence, showing the key pieces of information you need to know. Beagle will display the info in an intuitive, visual way, and then provide you with real time collaboration options. Even better? The more you use Beagle, the smarter it gets. It learns from and about users to provide a personalised analysis of your contract. In essence, Beagle sniffs out the fine print so you don’t have to.

“Winning this amazing service offering from Sourcebits does two things.  1.  It validates the incredible product my team has assembled, including the vision and market fit. 2. It provides us with exceptional access to highly skilled experts in mobile app development strategy,” said Cian O’Sullivan, Top Dog and Founder of Beagle Inc. “ We knew that the mobile aspect of our business could not be fumbled with, which is why we put off addressing it.  We know that ‘everything is mobile’, and we are so fortunate that Sourcebits is providing access to some of the best mobile app development strategy, and programmers available in the valley. We are very excited about the next steps with Sourcebits.”

Beagle is based in Waterloo, Ontario Canada.

ProgresslyProgressly is the world’s first shared repository of business knowledge. Hundreds of proven strategies and successful workflows are organized visually in Progressly’s marketplace, giving your team instant access to easily replicable best practices for nearly any business problem. What’s more, Flows can be copied and shared across teams to get everyone up to speed and driving progress faster than ever before.

“We couldn’t be more excited to work with SourceBits. After all, it’s not enough to just build an app that works for the business audience anymore. You need to be fast, mobile, intuitive, and downright pretty if you’re going to win in the B2B market today. Great design is a cornerstone of Progressly’s business, and we can’t wait to see that value translated to a smartphone screen through this partnership,” said Nick Candito, Progressly Co-Founder & Teammate.

Progressly is based in Palo Alto, California.

So what will Beagle and Progressly get in our Innovation Workshop?

1. First, we hold a one-day intensive in our San Francisco office to understand the business needs and ideastorm solutions.

2. Next, the Sourcebits innovation team spends 2-3 weeks putting together a full A-Z plan to bring the app to life. It includes full feature outlining, some visual concepts, a business roadmap, a timeline – which goes beyond v1 – and an accurate cost estimate.

3. We present the plan, and modify it based on feedback.

4. If everything lines up, Sourcebits can build the app (for the additional costs estimated).
